Korn Ferry (NYSE:KFY) today announced details of a new, updated edition of a book that will guide professionals who want to enhance their careers, cast away self-doubt and achieve desired outcomes.

“The Power of Choice, Embracing Efficacy to Drive Your Career” is written by Korn Ferry Chief Diversity Officer Michael Hyter. It offers tips such as focusing on possibilities – not limitations – and surrounding yourself with people who encourage and support your development.

“This book can help all professionals but is especially relevant to people who have recently launched their careers and who need the confidence and the direction to succeed,” said Hyter. “It shows people that it’s important to not shy away from self-promotion and to attribute success to one’s own ability and effort. This is often difficult for many people, especially women and people of color who may be averse to taking this kind of risk, but it’s a key strategy for continual improvement.”

In the book, Hyter encourages professionals to focus on what they can control, and if they are frustrated with their career, to make different choices to get different outcomes. It points to the need to seek out and act upon constructive feedback and to view difficulty and failure as a chance to learn, improve and grow.

The book encourages professionals to reach out to others for advice and to work to build trust with colleagues by helping them succeed instead of just focusing on one’s self. It emphasizes that individuals have the power to influence others, no matter what level they are in an organization.
